The most common complaints with vaginal atrophy are dry mucous membranes. This in turn means that you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
- Dryness
- Itching
- Burning sensation
- Irritation
- Irritated vaginal tissue
- Discomfort during intercourse
- Discomfort when urinating
- Discomfort during physical activity.
It is common to experience one or more of these complaints during different periods in life, as estrogen production is affected and changes. Most common is during menopause, but you can also experience symptoms during stressful periods, breastfeeding, or cancer treatment.
